11 The Ninth Commandment

11 The Ninth Commandment

The Ninth Commandment

Exodus 20

The Faithfulness of God

Titus 1:2 God cannot lie

We must attach this commandment to the Person of God

All God’s statements are perfect and true

God is never mistaken

When God says a thing, He means it deeply

The Meaning of This Verse

“Bear” means to look upon, consider, pay heed to, or listen to;

It also means give or communicate

Don’t be a giver or receiver of false witness

“False witness” any dishonest version of events or any untrue statement

Lying has Ugly Results

Ephesians 4:29-30 Lying grieves God

Ephesians 4:25 Lying is a betrayal of trust

Every untruth is a multiple sin, the motive behind the lie is a sin (pride and arrogance = boosting), (pride and cowardice = excuses), (hatred, jealousy = gossip)

Acts 5:1-11 Ananias and Sapphira lied to God by not doing what they said they were going to do

Life and Death in the Tongue

James 3

Use our tongues to bless God and encourage people
