Joshua 8:1-29

The Battle Plans Formed vs. 1-8

This time God gave them permission to attack Ai. In addition, God gave permission for people to keep the spoils after the battle.

The new plan entailed of Joshua and his army on one side of the city. They would draw out the men and let them come out and attack. They would feign defeat and draw the men away from the city. Then the men held in reserve on the other side of the city would attack the defenseless city and destroy it.

The Battle Plan Executed vs. 9-22

The plan was executed to perfection. Joshua drew them out, then rose his spear as a sign for the ambushers to come out and attack the city.

The men realized it was a trap too late and flee into the wilderness allowing the Israelites to flee after them and destroy them.

The Battle Plans Results vs. 23-29

They destroyed all the inhabitants of the city, took the spoil and hung the king of Ai.

If we do sin, we don’t have to let it hold continually victory (or defeat) in our lives. We can take care of the sin, but the grace of God, and proceed once again to the victories God desires for us to enjoy.
