On the Lord’s Side
Joshua 5:13-15
The Captain of the Lord’s Host
This is a pre-incarnate appearance of Christ.
Jesus did not begin in Bethlehem but is co-ruling, co-equal and co-existent with God the Father.
We know this is Christ because He accepted worship.
On the Lord’s Side
Joshua saw the man and asked a basic question: “Are you on our side or the enemies side”
The answer was neither; I am the Lord.
Joshua quickly changed plans and joined the Lord’s side.
Many times, we spend trying to get God on our side, when we should abandon our plans and join the Lord.
Part of dying to self is dying to our plans, schemes, and desires. It is giving up our side and joining God’s side. We need to stop trying to make us right.
