Five Types of Fools – Silly Fool

Proverbs 1:7

In the Hebrew language there is 5 different words that are translated into our English word fool.

This Simple Fool

The Silly Fool

The Sensual Fool

The Scorning Fool

The Steadfast Fool

The wise counselor must know how to identify these people and how to deal with them.

Distinguishing these fools will help let us know when to counsel and the type of counseling they should receive

A fool is someone who does not follow the wisdom of God.

There are different degrees of fools

They go through steps of progression

You need to stop someone before they get too far

Silly Fools

ev-ELL (Heb) – ones that has morally missed the mark.  His rejection of parental authority has caused him to violate his moral purity. (Sometimes it is because of curiosity)

The word literally means to be thick, like thick-headed or stupid.

It also carries with the idea of being insolate or twisted. Proverbs 10:21

The Silly Fool reacts to instruction and wisdom, disregards it. 1:7

He believes his own way of thinking is right. Proverbs 12:15

It is useless to argue with the silly fool, because the only way he will learn is by discipline and punishment. Proverbs 29:9

When things go wrong with this type of fool, he becomes angry and more damage is done. Proverbs 27:3

The mouth of the silly fool gets him into trouble, it is the distinguishing characteristic Proverbs 20:3; 10:14

If the silly fool would just close his mouth, he would improve the situation and people’s opinion of him. Pr 17:28
