Being Filled with the Holy Spirit<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Acts 13:4-12<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Context<\/strong><\/p>\n

The two began their missionary journey, bring Barnabas\u2019 nephew, John Mark with them.<\/p>\n

The isle of Paphos<\/em><\/p>\n

This was the seat of worship of the goddess Venus<\/p>\n

Kings from all over came to consult her oracle<\/p>\n

Every woman of Cyprus was expected to submit herself, once in her life, to the filthy service of the temple<\/p>\n

The false prophet<\/em><\/p>\n

His name was Barjesus \u201cThe Son of Jesus\u201d imagining himself to be antichrist<\/p>\n

He did everything he could to keep the deputy from the faith<\/p>\n

The judicial blindness<\/em><\/p>\n

Paul calls this man out and tells him he is a child of the devil<\/p>\n

God struck this man with blindness<\/p>\n

The deputy received salvation<\/p>\n

When God changes a name in the Bible it shows a turning point in their life<\/p>\n

Abraham, Sarah, Jacob \u2013 all these came to a place of full surrender in their lives<\/p>\n

As Paul completely emptied himself, God filled Paul with the Holy Spirit<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Being Filled with the Holy Spirit is a Definite Experience <\/strong><\/p>\n

Luke 24:49 \u2013 Jesus told the disciples to wait until they received the Holy Spirit<\/p>\n

Acts 19:2 \u2013 Paul asked a person if they were currently filled with the Holy Spirit expecting a \u201cyes\u201d or \u201cno\u201d answer<\/p>\n

Being Filled with the Holy Spirit is Separate From His Regenerating Work<\/strong><\/p>\n

Acts 1:5<\/p>\n

Being Filled with the Spirit is Always Connected with Testimony and Service<\/strong><\/p>\n

Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not for cleansing of sin<\/p>\n

There Are Diversities of the Spirit<\/em> \u2013 I Corinthians 12:1-11<\/p>\n

When this truth isn\u2019t realized and people expect filling is for \u201cpreaching\u201d then there is:<\/p>\n

Disappointment<\/p>\n

Presumption<\/p>\n

Indifference<\/p>\n

Jesus was filled with the Spirit and it was a Definite Experience<\/em><\/p>\n

Acts 10:38; Luke 3:21, 22; 4:1, 14, 15, 18, 21<\/p>\n

How to Be Filled with the Spirit<\/strong><\/p>\n

Repent \u2013 Acts 2:38<\/p>\n

Renounce \u2013 Acts 2:38<\/p>\n

Follow (or have followed) the Lord in Believer\u2019s Baptism \u2013 Acts 2:38<\/p>\n

Obedience (total surrender to the will of God) \u2013 Acts 5:32<\/p>\n

If there is something you will not do, you can not be filled<\/p>\n

Intense desire (includes having the right motive) \u2013 Luke 11:13<\/p>\n

Ask for filling \u2013 Luke 11:13<\/p>\n
