{"id":486,"date":"2017-04-30T20:16:43","date_gmt":"2017-04-30T20:16:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.brnsermons.com\/scottybackhaus\/?post_type=ctc_sermon&#038;p=486"},"modified":"2017-06-13T20:24:33","modified_gmt":"2017-06-13T20:24:33","slug":"02-a-jew-from-tarsus","status":"publish","type":"ctc_sermon","link":"https:\/\/brnsermons.com\/scottybackhaus\/sermons\/02-a-jew-from-tarsus\/","title":{"rendered":"02 A Jew From Tarsus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><em>A Jew From Tarsus <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Acts 21:39-22:3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Tarsus<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Was the center of learning for the world, surpassing the colleges of Alexandria and Athens<\/p>\n<p>The capital of Cilicia in southern Asia Minor<\/p>\n<p>Ancient trade routes from Euphrates Valley to Asia Minor passed through Tarsus<\/p>\n<p>East and West met at Tarsus and influenced the culture there<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Birth and Raising<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Jewish<\/em> \u2013 Hebrew of the Hebrews, a trained rabbi at the top of his class<\/p>\n<p><em>Hellenistic (Greek)<\/em> Paul was considered a Hellenistic Jew because of the influence he received from the Greek world. He learned Greek culture, language and study methods. He could speak and related to anyone one in the known world<\/p>\n<p><em>Roman<\/em> \u2013 He and his family had Roman citizenship. This allowed him to intermingle with the cream of society. His father had probably preformed a service for Pompey or Marc Antony.
