{"id":472,"date":"2016-10-19T19:56:42","date_gmt":"2016-10-19T19:56:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.brnsermons.com\/scottybackhaus\/?post_type=ctc_sermon&#038;p=472"},"modified":"2017-06-13T19:57:58","modified_gmt":"2017-06-13T19:57:58","slug":"06-for-a-time-such-as-this","status":"publish","type":"ctc_sermon","link":"https:\/\/brnsermons.com\/scottybackhaus\/sermons\/06-for-a-time-such-as-this\/","title":{"rendered":"06 For a Time Such as This"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><em>For a Time Such as This <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><em>Esther 4<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mordecai\u2019s Mourning<\/strong> vs. 1-4<\/p>\n<p>Sackcloth and ashes was a sign of public mourning for a grievous sin against God<\/p>\n<p>Nobody in sackcloth could enter through the King\u2019s gates.<\/p>\n<p>Many Jews were mourning with Mordecai<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Jew\u2019s Dilemma <\/strong>vs. 5-9<\/p>\n<p>When Esther inquired why Mordecai was leading a group in mourning, Mordecai told Esther the plans to kill the Jews.<\/p>\n<p>He even gave her the copy of the orders<\/p>\n<p>Mordecai asked if Esther would use her influence to have the king change the orders<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Esther\u2019s Objection<\/strong> vs. 10-12<\/p>\n<p>Esther reminded Mordecai that only those who were bidden could approach the king. If she went in unbidden and he did not accept her, it would be a death sentence.<\/p>\n<p>The Persians considered Xerxes a god, and this law helped elevate Xerxes in the eyes of the people<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mordecai\u2019s Admonishment <\/strong>vs. 13-14<\/p>\n<p>Mordecai reminded her that she was not safe from this law to destroy the Jews just because she was in the palace. Someone would find out and she would perish anyways<\/p>\n<p>If she didn\u2019t go, God would raise up someone else to deliver the Jews, but she and her family would perish.<\/p>\n<p>Mordecai was standing on God\u2019s promises He had made to the Jewish people.<\/p>\n<p>Mordecai also acknowledged that God placed Esther in this position for a time such as this<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Esther\u2019s Answer<\/strong> vs. 15-17<\/p>\n<p>Esther agreed to try, but before she would, she asked if Mordecai would get as many people, not just to pray, but to fast for the results. <strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mark 9:14-29<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For a Time Such as This Esther 4 Mordecai\u2019s Mourning vs. 1-4 Sackcloth and ashes was a sign of public mourning for a grievous sin against God Nobody in sackcloth could enter through the King\u2019s gates.
