Replacing Christ as the Head

“Philosophy” 2:8
“Tradition” 2:8 – for those who reverenced the past
“Show of wisdom” 2:23 – appeals to the more intellectual tastes
“Show of humility” – gave it a superior sanctity
“Worship of angels” 2:18
Contempt for the body 2:23
It was a mixture of Jewish mysticism and Greek philosophy
Christ is the Head of the Body
What does it mean that Christ is the Head?
Knowledge of His Will 1:9
Pleasing to God vs. 1:10
Increasing in the Knowledge of God 1:10
Strengthen by His might 1:11
Christ gave us redemption through His blood 1:14
Jesus is the Creator God vs. 15-17
Christ is the head of the Church vs. 18
Christ reconciles all things to Himself, by Him vs. 20
Christ saves us to change us and make us presentable to the Father vs. 21-22
