Samson’s Exploits
Judges 15
Events with the Foxes vs. 1-8
When Samson finally came back for his wife, he found her father already married her off to another.
To teach the Philistines a lesson, he captured 300 foxes. Then he tied a firebrand to the tails of the foxes, and let them loose. As the foxes ran from the fire, they burnt the crops and fields of the Philistines.
When the Philistines investigated the events, they found it was Samson and why. They ended up burning the man and his daughter.
Because the Philistines burnt his wife, he went down and killed Philistines with a great slaughter.
Events with the Bands vs. 9-13
Samson then waited in the rock fortress of Etam. The Philistines then threated Judah. They forced Judah to go up the mountain and tie Samson up. Samson allowed them with the promise they wouldn’t killed him themselves.
Events with the Jawbone vs. 14-20
When he was delivered to the Philistines, he broke the bands and found a jawbone of a donkey. With the improvised weapon, he killed a thousand men. After the battle, he tossed the jawbone aside.
Afterwards, thirst hit him. He cried out to God and God had water flow from the jawbone.
This strengthened Samson. He judged Israel for 20 years afterward.
