Neither Shewed They Kindness to Gideon (Gideon’s Judgeship)
Judges 8
The Discouragements Chasing Victory vs. 1-9
Ephraim – they were offended because of the leader
Succoth – they refused to take care of their leader with even basics
Penuel – because of pride they refused to take care their leaders
The Retribution Upon the Discouragements vs. 10-18
Succoth – the leaders were chastised
Penuel – the tower (their holding place of pride) was destroyed
The Wrong Way To Honor Their Leader vs. 19-28
The people attempted to make him king, which was not what God’s will for Gideon was.
Then they allowed Gideon to take on the role of priest, which was also not God’s will.
They ended up worshiping his garment, (and thus Gideon)
The Immorality of the People vs. 29-35
Gideon then had 70 children from different wives. The immorality of the age allowed an environment where it was acceptable.
It’s hard to stay right, when no one else wants to do right.
Then afterwards they refused to honor or even show kindness to Gideon and the work he did.
