14 John Mark – The Recovered Backslider

John Mark – The Recovered Backslider

Acts 15:36-40

Acts 12:12

The church was meeting for prayer to have Peter released from prison in his mother’s home

Peter probably led John Mark to the Lord, evidenced by Peter called him “my son”

Acts 12:25; 13:13

John Mark was taken on Paul’s first missionary journey by his uncle Barnabas

As things begin to get a little rough, John Mark quit and headed back home.

In-between this time, John Mark went back to church and begin to get his soul back on fire for the Lord.

Acts 15:36-40

Barnabas wanted to give John Mark a second chance, but Paul didn’t want to take any chances with a quitter

But God continued to work in John Mark’s life. He traveled with his uncle and began to show faithfulness in the work of God.

In Colossians 4:10 we see that once again Mark with Paul and Paul endorsed his ministry

II Timothy 4:11 As Paul in imprisoned in Rome, he is alone with nobody else but Dr Luke at his side. He asks Timothy to come and bring Mark because he was profitable for Paul

1 Peter 5:13 We see that John Mark even traveled with Peter for a while to Babylon (Rome)

As John Mark is traveling with Peter, he was sure to ask Peter often what it was like to walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. Mark took these things to heart and wrote the gospel record of Mark, which is highly influenced from Peter’s perspective
