God’s Ideal Character and Calling of His People
Deuteronomy 33:1-5, 26-30
Jeshrun – poetical name for Israel, meaning his “upright, righteous people”
This had the idea of the ideal character God desired His people to be.
The picture is the change of Jacob “supplanter” to Israel “the upright, pious one”
In this passage, God is pledging to take care of his special “blessed” people
Because of whom God is and what He has done for us, God expects us to be a different people, living upright and righteous
II Corinthians 5:14-21
Vs. 15 Because Christ died for us, we should not live for ourselves
Vs. 17 God made us into new creatures and expects us to act like new creatures
Vs. 18 God has given us the ministry of reconciliation, for us to use our influence with people to bring them to God
Vs. 19 Our tool is the word of reconciliation
Vs. 20 We are ambassadors for Christ
