The Day the Sun Stood Still

Joshua 10

The Attack on Gibeon vs. 1-6

The Canaanites had a fear of the children of Israel because of their God. When Gibeon joined them, it made them more afraid. The Canaanites of the area joined together rot attack Gibeon and stop that threat. The Gibeonites sent for Joshua to help.

The Attack by Joshua vs. 7-10

God gave Joshua permission to help. Joshua immediately arose and marched all night to get to them. He was determined to keep his word to his allies. God was with them as they fought against the enemies.

The Attack by God vs. 11-14

When the enemies began to run, God stepped in and attacked. He sent hail stone which killed more than Joshua did.

Joshua prayed and the sun stood still allowing more daylight to kill their enemies.

That day there was 28 hours of sunlight.

The earth slowed its rotation so it was a prolonged day.

The Bible also mentions the book of Jasher. This is not a missing Bible book. The main purpose of the Bible is to reveal God to man. The Bible we have is God’s complete written revelation of Himself. The book of Jasher is an extra Biblical history book that gives an historical account of events of this time. This history book disappeared in 6th century BC. There is a false book going around, but it again serves as history tale and never an inspired book of the Bible. The reason why its mentioned is because such a huge event like this would be recorded in ancient cultures history book.  The Bible is says this event is confirmed by other sources.

We have a good who hears and answers prayers. He can answer even impossible prayers!
