The Work of God is Our Mission
Acts 14:21-28
There is a lot of confusion of what are missions, what are missionaries and what do missionaries do.
In Acts 13 God sent them to do a work. At the end of Acts 14, they fulfilled the work. The work of God must be shown between these tow chapters.
They Preach the Gospel vs. 21
The very first thing missionaries do is give the gospel to the people
They Taught Many vs. 21
They begin to disciple the people
Discipleship is developing the habit of obedience to Christ
They Confirmed the Souls vs. 22
This carries the idea of ensuring the disciples were obedient
Accountability
They Ordained Elders vs. 23
They set up pastors to oversee the church
They Commended Them to the Lord vs. 23
They removed their hands from the church and depended upon God to take care of the people.
A biblical illustration is Moses’ mother taken her hands off the basket and trusting the Lord will bring His will across
Missionaries are basically itinerate Church planters.
