The Walls of Jericho
Judges 6
The Obedience of Faith vs. 1-8
Faith obeys completely. We don’t walk our own way. We cannot have our way and God’s way.
Jericho had two walls. The outside wall was a mud-brick wall 21 feet high and 6 feet thick.
Jericho encompassed about 9 acres within the walls, and would be a circumference of ½ mile. At an average walking speed, it would be about 10 minutes for each lap.
Inside there were about 600 normal inhabitants with a thousand people total considering the refuges from the surrounding area.
The Discipline of Faith vs. 9-19
They were told to walk around Jericho and not talk. They had to remain completely quiet until they were told. They looked ridiculous to the inhabitants of Jericho.
Then the children of Israel would walk back to their camp which was 2 to 6 miles away.
The 7th day it took about 3 ½ hours to go completely around the city walls the seven times.
The Patience of Faith vs. 20-21
If we want God to prove Himself, we must be patient and wait on Him.
